Rail Mission Successful

The rail mission to get the shot for the East Coast Snowboarding Photo Contest went very well. Thursday night was ok because I was only working with one flash. Friday during the day was awesome! Found a factory that was abandoned with a few different rails and set ups. We only hit one and will go back once there is more snow to hit the other rails. ECS Photo Contest/Weekend

Big Boulder Opening Day

While I was going through my photos on Lightroom I came across this photo of Scotty Cranmer on 10/04/09. I was taking photos for Hell On Wheels at Raceway Park in Englishtown, NJ. I looked at the photo and it didn't seem just right. So I did a little edit and made it black and white, blew out the sky a little, turned up the black and this is what it turned out to be...

Getting Ready

The season is here for some people and it is very close for the rest of us! Just got both my boards and my bindings all ready to go. I am on a Nitro SubZero 152 and a Rome Postermania 156. For bindings I went with K2 Formulas and as for boots I got the Rome Bodega in a 8.5. I can't wait for the snow to start falling and get on the hill.

Buckmans Rail Jam Canceled

The Buckmans Rail Jam at Big Boulder this Saturday has been canceled along with the Oakley Rolling-O Lab due to the warm weather. Boulder is shooting for Thanksgiving to be open and hopefully the weather will corporate. Check out Boulder's site for more info,

I went to Big Boulder on Halloween for the Back Yard Bang. It was pretty fun until it rained. The lighting wasn't the greatest and the snow was steaming. Boulder and the sponsors brought in 25 tons of ice and chipped it down. Here are a few photos from the event and check them all out on my facebook page or on flickr.

Photo Shoot and Gallery

I will be taking photo's for Switch Foot in Haddonfield, NJ on Oct 17, 2009. It is Haddonfield's fall festival and Switch Foot is having a skate demo. They will set up a mini street course and half pipe out side the store. I will be taking photos for them and have my gallery inside their shop. Come out and check it out. Busy Busy Busy!

The past week I have been super busy getting ready for this Saturday for the sale/gallery. Also I went through all my photos and keyword them so I can find them easier and what not. I bought the D-65 pdf for light and it really helped and it great. It helps you learn digital work flow. I am so happy that I got it because now I am more organized and files are easier to locate.

Photo Gallery and Sale

On Saturday September 12, 2009 in the Centennial One Parking Lot on Euclid Ave across from the PATCO speed line station in Haddonfield, NJ will be the Haddonfield Lions Flea Market & Antique Show. Inspiration: Andy Wright

Andy Wright is one of the best in snowboard photography and his work has been on Transworld Snowboarding Magazine, Snowboarder Magazine, Strength, Pleasure Snowboard Magazine, Play Board, Whitelines Snowboard Magazine, Slammer, and SNOWing Fun Magazine. Andy is the best all around photographer in snowboard to me. He urban photos and the most unique angles, his back country photos has a great feel to them, and in his park photos he makes everything so huge. Andy's lifestyle photos just shows how snowboarding really is and makes it fun and then at the same time has the unique feel to them. When I got to meet Andy at High Cascade Snowboard Camp Photo Workshop was truly a dream come true. He was one of the teachers along with Tim Zimmerman who is also a amazing photographer. I had the chance to see Andy's slide show from the past winter and every photo gave me goosebumps. Watching that slide show pushes me to work harder to get the best photo possible and makes me want to be at that level where Andy is. He is now the Sr Photographer at Transworld Snowboarding, the number 1 snowboard magazine. Keep up the great work Andy and keep inspiring.

The Storm

While I was down in Sea Isle City, NJ to take photos of my friend, Pat Carey during Hurricane Bill the weather was really different. There were blue sky's with really dark clouds and it was really hazy. Pat and I were wondering if it was going to rain or not. You really couldn't tell what was going on.

I was shooting Pat for about a hour and I haven't moved from my spot or turned around for a hour because sets were coming non stop. Pat was ripping them and if I did look away I would miss something. Hurricane Bill brought some good surf to New Jersey that weekend. So The waves are slowing down and Pat was coming out for a break. I went to go get my bag and get my lens cap and as soon as I turned around I saw the sky over the main land and the clouds were massive and dark while over the island it was thin clouds and see some blue sky. It was one of the craziest sky's I have ever seen. So I grabbed my fisheye lens so I could get a really wide shot of this and I loved the way it came out. I made it black and white because it gives more of a mood to it and I think it looks better in black and white. The clouds stayed over the mainland and just moved slowly to the north. Mr. Bill

I am down in Sea Isle, NJ for the waves from Bill. Today was ok. it was choppy but about head to over head waves. There were some good sets. Sunday and Monday should be much better. I will have photos up soon!

I came across this photo while I was looking through the flickr group called snowboard and ski pool. This one cought my eye. The photographer of this photo is Tommy Larsen who did a great job. The colors are great, sky is sick, gnraly kicker, perfecting timing witht the trick (BS 7 Japan), and great detail. Great Work Tommy!

Mens and Womens Half Pipe Finals

In Shaun Whites final/winning run started with a frontside lien air, to backside 900 melon, followed by a frontside 1080 stalefish, into a Cab double cork 1080 stalefish, to frontside double cork 900.

On the womens side Kelly Clark had the winnin run that started with a massive frontside air followed by a backside 540 indy, into a frontside 720 tailgrab, followed by a Cab 720, finishing with a frontside 540 indy.

Lastest On Magoon

As reported yesterday Lucas Magoon was in a coma from at skateboard accident and taking to Reno Hospital. Magoon was bombing a hill in the area when he lost control and smacked his head on the ground which put him in a coma instantly. Grenade TM Kevin Casillo reports via his Facebook that, "Lucas is awake and off the ventilator. He is still in ICU and under constant watch but is doing much better."

Lets wish Magoon a speedy and healthy recovery!

Please keep Lucas Magoon in your prayers! He fell skating & hit his head! He is in a induced comma at Reno hospital. I don't know of any other information. I read this on twitter from snow_news (http://twitter.com/snow_news). If I find out any other information on him I will keep you updated.

While I was at the High Cascade Snowboard Camp Photo Workshop on the first day I got to see Bud Fawcett's slideshow. Bud is a legend in snowboard photography. He has amazing work and worked with the best guys around. He got to document the begining of snowboarding with the riders best around who are also legends now. Still Editing

I got so many great photos from HCSC and I am still editing them. I can't wait til they are all done so I can submit them to the magazines and get my first published photo! Keep on checking y flickr site for new photos and leave me some comments and any advice you have for me.

Inspiration

Andy Wright is very inspiring to me. He is one of the best snowboard photographers out there and I was lucky enough to meet him! He was my instructor at the High Cascade Snowboard Camp Photo Workshop. I was overwhelmed to be working with him. I learned a lot form Andy. He has so many good pointers and tips to be the best photographer you can be. I got to see his slide show from the 2007/2008 season and he had so many great shots. Look for his photos in this seasons magazines!

Live Burn Done/ Fisheye

Just got done all the Live Burn photos for Cherry Hill Fire Co. and Haddonfield Fire Co. Her are some of the photos. Also I picked up a Nikon 10.5mm Fisheye!!

Backed Up

I am really backed up on the photos. Still working on the DUB photos alond with the live burn photos I did for Cherry Hill Fire Company Station 13-7 and Haddonfield. I am also taking a summer math class and thats been backing me up also. I have most of the DUB photos done and I have to get the fire photos done by Friday. I will keep you posted.

DUB Show

Went to the DUB car show in Atlantic City on Saturday May 16th with Jovian, Dave, Chris, and James. It went well and got some good photos. We also held down Jovians cars which were the hottest cars and most expensive there. Then I went out to Game On! for my 21st birthday at midnight. It was a great time and my cousin and his girlfriend hooked me up big time. Thank Jim and Jess!

Finally Done

Finally done for this semester! I will working on more photos alot more time and shooting alot more since I am out of school. I will be at the DUB show in AC May 16 then going to Game On! at midnight for my 21st birthday!!!! I will be taking photos at the show.

Last Week of School

This is my last week of classes for this semester. I have a ton of work to get done that's due by Thursday and the day of my class final. I will be super busy working on school so if there isn't an update on here you know why.

Philly Night Shoot

I went into Philly last night with Jovian and we went to Love Park then behing the Art Museum. We got some great shots. They are going to be posted on Flickr (www.flickr.com/gfurey) but here are two from last night...

Blue Mountain Pond Skimming

On Sunday I was at Blue Mountain for the pond skimming contest. It was pretty good. Got alot of good shots. I took photos with Jovian Yoh. I got 270 total photos but I have to cut it down to the good ones. I will post some on here when I am done editing them and the rest on flickr.

Yesterday's photo shoot went very well. Got some great photos. Geoff did a great job on picking spots for his photos and on his dirt bike. I will be editing them for the next few days and post some up so you can check it out.

What a way to spend a Sunday...

Woke up to the window open, birds chirping, and no more snow on the ground. It went from a foot of snow on Monday to 70 degrees today. Would of been a good spring like day to ride and shoot but instead I have to work on a paper for my online art course that is due Wed. Not a productive weekend at all as in for getting photos.

Boring Day

Since I couldn't make it to Boulder due to traffic I came home and looked at my room and something needed to be done. It was a mess. So I fixed it up and ended up falling asleep in the middle for three hours and now my room is much better. Didn't get any photos of anything today but maybe tomorrow I will get some new ones

I HATE Traffic!

Was on my way to Boulder and only got to the Philly Art Museum exit on the Vine Street Expressway which took me a hour to get there from the Ben Franklin Br! It takes a half hour to get from my house to that exit. Traffic was all the way to 476. Wasn't having that.
